FROM THE NORTH AREA
• Leave the M6 at Junction 11 and take the 4th Exit off the
motorway island following the A460 towards Wolverhampton
• Continue straight on the A460 (Cannock Road) for
approximately 4.4 mile (Wolverhampton)
• Turn left into B4484 (Pear Tree Lane) and follow towards
Wednesfield for approx. 1.2 miles
• After 1.2 miles take the 2nd Exit off the roundabout into
A4124 (Lichfield Road) towards Wednesfield town centre
• Take the second turning on the right onto Duke Street and
head towards the park grounds at the other end of the
street.

FROM THE SOUTH AND THE EAST AREA
• Leave the M6, and join the M54 at the M6 J10a junction
direction M54, North (& Mid) Wales, Wolverhampton &
Telford.
• After approx 1.5 miles leave the M54 at junction 1 and head
towards Wolverhampton
• Continue straight on the A460 (Cannock Road) for
approximately 4 mile (Wolverhampton)

Parking

Whilst there is no actual car park, there is street parking availiable on Duke Street, Tithe Road, Amos Lane and Nordeley Road, all adjacent to the park. When parking, please be considerate to the residents and don’t block any drives!

By Train

Exit Wolverhampton Train Station. Walk over the road brige directly in front of you. The Bus Station is a minutes walk from the station over the bridge on your left.

BY BUS

The following buses will get you there.

559 – From Stand C. Gets you closest to the park. Get off at Lichfield Road by Chadsway Primary School. The stop is almost next to Duke Street, where the park is located. Journey takes 10 minutes. Buses leave every 5.

560 – Leaves from outside Wolves Art Gallery. Get off at Wednesfield High Street. Park is about a 2 minute skate away

562 – Again leaves from the Bus Station. Get off at Wednesfield Police Station. 5 minute skate to the park

As you will see from the photos, the park is close to completion. Hopefully only a week left!

All the main construction is finished, it’s now down to sorting out the assorted coping issues, hubbas and cleaning.

Completion is in sight! The long journey will soon be over! Hopefully the pics will really start giving people a flavour of what the park wil be like. Start plotting those lines now! All tranny and banks should hopefully be completed by Friday.

Oh, and the little kids who drew in the wet cement – next time you vandalise something, probably best not to write your myspace addresses in the wet cement.

Time for a most exciting update. Duracrete have been on site the last coupel of days, so we are saying the emergence of transistions in the park. The stairs by the hubbas have been corrected and put in. Manny pad and T-block has been added and things are looking good. There are still a few kinks (pun intended) which need to be ironed out but things are looking good. Very good.

Final note, please do not skate the park. Even more so currently as there’s a lot of wet cement. The council have also employed two security guards to keep kids (and errant skaters) off the park until completion. Anyhow, on to the pics.

Yet another update. Aren’t we kind!

Small errors are being corrected and things are looking good! We’re roughly looking at the second week in September as holding the official opening.

Yet more photos of the progress of the build. You’ll notice the problem with kinks in the hubbas is being rectified. With work progressing on both sides of the park, people should be getitng a goo idea of th layout of the park

It’s recently been bought to our attention that some eejits are still attempting to skate the unfinished park.

Why is this such a stupid idea?

1) Concrete needs to undergo a process called ‘curing.’ This is the process where

‘The cement paste hardens over time, initially setting and becoming rigid though very weak, and gaining in strength in the days and weeks following. Even though the cement reaction with water is completed over period of time (normally about around 240 minutes which is referred to as final setting time), the hardening of concrete and gain of strength is over a period of time 95% to 98% strength is achieved in 3 weeks’ (wiki)

What does it mean if you skate the park before it’s completed and the concrete has cured? The concrete is substantially more likely to crack and flake. Anyone who has skated parks where this has occurred will know how much of a pain it is. Having a few weeks patience will mean the park remains in good condition for longer.

2) If you start to skate the park before completion, it gives the illusion of carte blanche to everyone else. Kids on bikes and scooters, kids with spraypaint and pens (and even graf. writers), children who think banks make good slides all are attracted to the park. Why? Because they see skateboarders skating and ‘it’s a skatepark so must be OK to go in’

3) Why spoil the surprise and pleasure of skating the completed park for the first time. It’s like a kid sneaking into their parent’s room and opening their Christmas presents in mid-November!

In conclusion. DON’T SKATE UNTIL THE PARK IS COMPLETED AND OPEN!
